That Rabbit Hole

That Rabbit Hole

Everything that came out of that rabbit hole was different. I don’t know why. Or who built it. But, I had scooped out so many things and each one was different after being there. My brothers didn’t believe me. They chanted, “That’s exactly how it looked. It’s exactly the same. It don’t matter that you found it there. Ain’t nobody made that hole for you.” Sometimes I laid in bed hearing their voices, high and mighty about what they thought. One day they gave me something they told me could never change. “Go try to put that down the rabbit hole, they said. Even you will agree, you’ll see.” So here I am. I don’t believe them. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take. But, I bet it will be different when I come back and scoop it out. Years later I thought to myself that’s why it always was different for me. Because I believed it would change. I became that rabbit hole. Copyright © Susy Kamber Song Selection - 311- Amber
