The Rustle of a Thousand Leaves

The Rustle of a Thousand Leaves

I kept myself still in the forest, Listening. The rustle of a thousand leaves, Moving. The wind carried their sounds to me by the happenstance way their branches held them. Everything attached to something else. The lingering smell of bark and grass as if rubbed together. Heady I am inside thinking to become a tree or a leaf kept still in the forest, So still I stayed. When it came time to leave I never really did. For I am wet leaves in a black sea now. Floating amongst the waves.
