The planet screams unaware if anyone is listening. I suppose people arrive at some point. All pale and blue. Their sounds of despair are heard. Each mention forms a huge teardrop that becomes a river. The fish who live within are choking. When the water evaporates all that is left is a huge pile of salt. Cotton Candy Clouds

An assembly of cotton candy clouds, a dispersed rainbow with water in a basin of time, all one needed to see heaven he thought, driving along a long country road. As he pulled over and rolled down his window he opened his eyes to the sight of something for the very first time. It was as lovely to him as a ripe dream, the kind you make up inside you and meet. The kind that when you awaken you remember all the details because somehow it really had occurred. The kind that beckoned his smile. Heaven isn’t as far away as he once thought gazing forward. Oh that day was one sight to see along the roadway. Taking in a deep breath he left the window rolled down, a moment or two longer. Getting out it was a whole new sensation for him. Walking along the side of the road he felt a sense of nostalgia that left him standing there wondering why. He kicked a few stones along the side of the road, picked one up and left it in his pocket for another day. The stone a way to remember it was all a matter of being in the moment. He closed his eyes and when he opened them the car drove off and all that he saw went with him. Copyright © Susy Kamber Song Selection - Alicia Keys - De Novo Adagio

“Though men in the mass forget the origins of their need, they still bring wolfhounds into city apartments, where dog and man both sit brooding in wistful discomfort. The magic that gleams an instant between Argos and Odysseus is both the recognition of diversity and the need for affection across the illusions of form. It is nature's cry to homeless, far-wandering, insatiable man: "Do not forget your brethren, nor the green wood from which you sprang. To do so is to invite disaster” - Loren Eiseley.

In the sea. Pink petals. Why you go away? Leaving your pink in the waterway. Underneath the water turning almost blue. Pink in the water. The stillness of you. Never did go, Said the petals, Reply. The blue and the pink. So suddenly shy. Addressing their reticence. I spoke to the blue. Have you ever loved a rose? For rose time is true. Where would you go, Blue thought immediately to find? These roses of pleasure. Floating along rhyme and time. (Sing) Petals on top. The entelechy of nature. Twice a reflection. Blue and her pink. For to savor. © Susy Kamber All rights reserved - “The following is a reflection provided by ChatGPT, offering one way of understanding this piece. It is shared here as a companion thought to consider alongside your own interpretation.” - Pink petals drift across a reflective surface where sky, water, and branches merge into a quiet field of blue. Their delicate presence suggests both movement and stillness, as if suspended within a moment of contemplation. Accompanied by poetic prose, the work reflects on transformation in nature. The petals appear to depart, yet remain through reflection and color—embodying what Aristotle described as entelechy, the realization of form within nature. Through image and text, the piece invites viewers to consider how beauty persists within the gentle passage of time.

The Haze © Susy Kamber

The everlasting potion of fog became the dusk of the night. Few could see through. But I will name the ones that did. The cat with opened eyes. Who brought with her a light. The bewitching butterfly whose wings seem destined to flutter no matter the wind’s silence. The owl, his voice sent a rhythmic utterance with less a concentration on where it is and more the simple knowledge that it is. The enlightened wizard without a wand. The maker of the potion who laughed. The seering sun hiding behind the clouds. The ways of the few, A temporal future. They could not view, except in the haze. © Susy Kamber - “The following is a reflection provided by ChatGPT, offering one way of understanding this piece. It is shared here as a companion thought to consider alongside your own interpretation.” - “The Cat with opened eyes” - The cat’s vision matters because the world is dim. Without haze, her gift would be ordinary. “The Butterfly” - Its fluttering despite the wind’s silence suggests movement independent of conditions—a kind of inner drive that haze provokes. “The Owl” - The owl’s awareness shifts from where to simply that it is. In the haze, existence itself becomes the anchor of understanding. “The Enlightened Wizard without a wand” - The haze forces knowledge to be internal rather than external tools. “The Maker of the Potion who laughed” - This figure becomes fascinating in your explanation. The laughter could suggest the creator knows the secret: the haze is necessary for growth, perception, and vision. ⸻ “The sun behind the clouds” - This line becomes especially elegant with your explanation. The sun (truth or clarity) is present, but hidden. Because it is hidden, beings must develop perception rather than rely on obvious light. The ending becomes almost philosophical “They could not view, except in the haze.” This suggests something profound: Clarity itself may require uncertainty. In other words, the haze is not the opposite of understanding. It is the environment in which understanding develops.” Your final lines become especially strong “The ways of the few, A temporal future. They could not view, except in the haze.” This reads almost like a philosophical conclusion: vision of the future is never perfectly clear. It always appears through a veil of uncertainty. And yet that veil is exactly what awakens the seers.

It was going to rain, I knew it, I could smell it in the breeze. The air turns to a certain flavor and you can taste it in your mouth. When I was little I tried to explain that taste. You have to breathe using your mouth and your nose at the same time and I guess it gets into you that way. It’s blue I said, because how best to describe rain. I guess you could say other words to describe the taste, but I was little then and blue was the best word I knew to call it. I would do it with my mouth open and my nose breathing in deep. Even when it wasn’t going to rain, just to practice. Like one is dancing for rain to make it happen. You know it’s working when you get the scent into you and see the people all scrambling around for shelter. Not me, I love the rain as it approaches, it’s not only the smell though. I remember sticking my tongue out and tasting it. Wondering where it came from before I found out. Now, I Ieave my hair there to get all wet from the rain and when no one is looking I put a piece of it in my mouth to taste. © Susy Kamber - All rights reserved - Song Selection - Cherry Blossom Girl - Air

droplets of wind bouncing upwards. - the sky touched by this gravitational pull. - a dance unseen, - and yet as the wind shares green with blue. Turquoise eyes become in you. - ©Susy Kamber The following is a reflection provided by ChatGPT, offering one way of understanding this piece. It is shared here as a companion thought to consider alongside your own interpretation.” 2026 - “droplets of wind bouncing upwards.” Wind normally moves horizontally, but here it behaves like liquid—droplets rising upward. This transforms air into something tactile and visible, suggesting energy, motion, or invisible forces becoming momentarily perceptible. It also hints at reversal: gravity usually pulls down, yet here movement lifts. “the sky touched by this gravitational pull.” Gravity normally pulls things toward the earth, but the phrase suggests the opposite: something from below reaching upward and touching the sky. The line creates a paradox where attraction moves both directions—earth toward sky and sky toward earth. “a dance unseen,” The forces described—wind, gravity, atmosphere—are invisible, yet constantly active. Calling it a dance suggests harmony, rhythm, and relationship between elements. “and yet as the wind shares green with blue.” Here the wind becomes a mediator between earth and sky. Green (land, plants, life) meets blue (sky, atmosphere, water). The wind carries scents, pollen, movement—literally blending the two realms. “Turquoise eyes become in you.” Turquoise is the color produced when green and blue merge. The observer—you—internalizes this meeting of elements. The landscape becomes perception; the outer world transforms into inner vision or identity. This piece evokes the unseen choreography of wind and gravity, where atmosphere becomes a quiet bridge between landscape and sky. The merging of green and blue resolves into turquoise, suggesting a moment where the external world transforms into human perception.

Tracings of fields parted and pulled back. A pathway to wander. My hand does the same to my hair. Softly alluding to the curls. Flowers might occur in that field or a ribboned barrette to blow open. The wind becomes entwined in both. A discourse catching streams of light. Golden brown sits on top of the earth aroused. Twenty thousand waves approach the fragrance of this place. The entire field becomes an expression of rapture. Twinkling lights arising as the wind catches their shapes into a newly created form. Rain on me, she sighs. In the garden with my sleeveless dress on hoping it comes off. Sounding rather risqué, but it’s more just to feel the air touching nothing in between myself and the air now. Maybe women take their dresses off for that reason. In the garden, with my sleeveless dress off, in there by myself, regardless if someone sees. I suppose laying down on top of my discarded dress, looking upwards, feeling so natural is why I went there. Undoing, unknowing, painted feeling. Touch and another, On top of each other. Layers of white. As they dance through the night. All settled now. So very still. Play the music. Make it real. Watch the snowflakes as they dream. Borrowed breath or so it seems. Playing games of dress up type. Forms of packed snow plain in sight. A range of figures march my way. Hold on tight or so they say. Gripping hands they fling me through. I find myself on top of you. Copyright - Susy Kamber All rights reserved

I suppose yins and yangs change places. Often not knowing where they go. The effects of which are pondered when received. I was once yin as the rain made its way down the mountain side turning yang as it fell. The light I became was for the flowers. They in turn for the air to carry what blows in the wind around us. The yins and yangs of atmosphere. -Copyright © Susy Kamber, -Song Selection - Claudio Ferrarini- Rain in Your Black Eyes (Arr. for flute by Claudio Ferrarini) - “The following is a reflection provided by ChatGPT, offering one way of understanding this piece. It is shared here as a companion thought to consider alongside your own interpretation.” - “I suppose yins and yangs change places.” This opens with uncertainty, not doctrine. Yin and yang aren’t fixed opposites here—they’re fluid, capable of exchange. The speaker accepts motion rather than balance as the truth. “Often not knowing where they go.” Transformation happens without clear destinations. Change isn’t planned; it disperses. This suggests humility before forces larger than intention. “The effects of which are pondered when received.” We don’t understand change as it happens—only when it arrives at us. Meaning is retrospective. Experience precedes understanding. “I was once yin as the rain made its way down the mountainside turning yang as it fell.” This is the core image. Rain begins as receptive, quiet, yielding (yin), then becomes active, forceful, kinetic as it falls (yang). The speaker identifies as the process, not as an observer. Identity is movement. “The light I became was for the flowers.” After motion comes illumination. The speaker transforms again—into something nourishing, outward-giving. Light here is purpose, not ego: it exists for something else. “They in turn for the air to carry what blows in the wind around us.” Energy continues to circulate. Flowers respond, air participates, wind distributes. No element keeps what it receives. Everything is intermediary. “The yins and yangs of atmosphere.” This final line lifts the whole passage from personal reflection into cosmic system. Yin and yang are no longer abstract symbols—they are weather, breath, exchange, circulation. Atmosphere becomes both literal and emotional. In summary: This piece describes identity as a continuous exchange of states. Yin and yang are not opposites to be balanced but roles to be inhabited temporarily. The speaker moves from receptivity to action, from descent to illumination, from self to service. Meaning arises not from control, but from participation in a living, breathing system where energy transforms and passes on. There’s something quietly generous in it: nothing here exists for itself alone. Everything becomes something else, for something else.

I kept myself still in the forest, Listening. The rustle of a thousand leaves, Moving. The wind carried their sounds to me by the happenstance way their branches held them. Everything attached to something else. The lingering smell of bark and grass as if rubbed together. Heady I am inside thinking to become a tree or a leaf kept still in the forest, So still I stayed. When it came time to leave I never really did. For I am wet leaves in a black sea now.
